Our in store tasting series continues on Friday, May 1st from 5pm to 6:30pm as we welcome the winemaker from Marietta Cellars, Jake Bilbro, to Marquis Wine Cellars. Jake will be pouring the full line up wines that he produces and he is uniquely qualified to answer any questions you might have about the wines or the winery, having worked there since 2000 in every capacity from vineyard crew to managing national sales to President of the company.
Marietta Cellars has often been at the forefront of innovation which started in the early 1980’s when Jake’s father began making a non-vintage red blend sourced from different areas of California. The overriding ethos at the winery is to make some of California’s most iconic, drinkable, affordable wines of place. Recently their efforts have garnered a lot of attention in the wine world as they continue to craft superbly delicious non-vintage blends year after year. Robert Parker has always like this producer as noted in The Wine Advocate #210 “My fondness for the non-vintage blend of many vintages and grapes goes back to when I first reviewed the Old Vine Red Lot 14. Production has soared since then, but the consistency in quality has remained remarkably high. These are terrific offerings from this value-priced winery.”
This is a unique opportunity to sample some these wines because even if you travel to California, you won’t be able to taste at the winery. It is a true working winery with no tasting room or visitor centre. The line-up of wines being poured at this event is as follows and we will have all the wines in store for purchase on the day of the tasting:
- Old Vine Red Lot 60
- Christo Lot 1
- Arme Lot 1
- 2011 Angeli Cuvee Zinfandel
- 2010 Petite Syrah (last year of production)
* tasting line-up subject to change without notice.
Marquis Wine Cellars would like to thank Lifford Wine & Spirits for the opportunity to host this event.
