Italy 101 - NOTE: DATE CHANGED FROM FEBRUARY 24 TO MARCH 2
Through lecture, demonstration, and practice, participants will be guided through an introduction to the wine-tasting process, including how to use the senses to describe wine characteristics and quality. A general overview of winegrowing and winemaking will be provided.
The following will be demystified: serving temperatures, when and what to decant, drink it now or age it, tools of the trade, deciphering the label, as well as suggestions on food and wine pairing will be discussed.
As the theme country for the upcoming Vancouver International Wine Festival is Italy, tasting will focus on a selection Italian wines. Participants will be taken on a visual tour of the country, and will be given suggestions on how to approach the tasting room at the wine festival.
