Join us at the store on Wednesday, February 24th as we welcome Francesca Bindocci from Tenuta Il Poggione. Francesca is the export manager for the winery and is the daughter of Fabrizio Bindocci, the General Manager and Winemaker at Il Poggione. She will be on hand pouring a selection of wines and answering all your questions about the wines and the winery.
Tenuta Il Poggione is one of Montalcino's major wineries with over 125 hectares of vines. The estate's guiding principle is to pay meticulous attention to the vineyards, because the secret of producing great red wines lies in tending the vines. On the Poggione estate, the grapes are harvested entirely by hand and the wine is made by the traditional method, though modern, state-of-the-art equipment is used. Total control of the vinification process is guaranteed, thanks to the new cellar built in the centre of the estate in 2004 and the introduction of extremely advanced technology, but as tradition is important, the company keeps the large French oak barrels used for aging the great Tenuta Il Poggione red wines five metres below ground.
This is a FREE tasting and it is a rare opportunity to sample a selection of great wines. We plan on pouring the following wines:
- 2013 Vermintino/Chardonnay
- 2013 Rosso di Montalcino
- 2009 Brunello di Montalcino
- 2007 Brunello Riserva "Vigna Paganelli"
- 2003 Vin Santo
Cost: Free but please RSVP to Jon Ellison at firstname.lastname@example.org
Marquis Wine Cellars would like to thank Lifford Wine & Spirits for the opportunity to host this great event.
