The genesis of Clos du Soleil began in 2006 with a small nebula of 4 families. Each family loved, appreciated, and admired wines so much that they decided to partner together to create their own artisanal winery.
The name Clos du Soleil, a French term meaning ‘enclosed Vineyard of the Sun’, defines this very special piece of land where they grow the grapes. Their enclosure is the mountain that forms a natural stone wall at the north end of the vineyard, almost surrounding the cobbled terroir which lends its unique flavours to the wines. Most importantly, their name highlights the long days of sun which warm the enclosure and the beautiful south-facing slope of the Upper Bench outside Keremeos, BC in the Similkameen Valley. This is truly one of BC’s most unique and promising terroirs.
From this land, Clos du Soleil produces premium quality, award winning wines borrowing inspiration and an aesthetic from the great wines of Bordeaux, but stamped with the flavours and aromas of our particular piece of rocky soil. They use traditional winemaking techniques informed by research and adhering to the philosophies of minimal-interventionist winemaking and biodynamic viticulture to make wines that are complex, elegant, and age-worthy.
